GUIMARAES.
WHERE IT ALL STARTED
The city that raised the first king of Portugal, Afonso Henriques, the area that was once home to the Westgoth tribes. The cradle of the country and also the cultural heritage of UNESCO.

Residents of the city called themselves the Conquistadors, because it was precisely of their fierce resistance that this territory was freed most quickly from the Moorish rule.

Visit Guimaraes and see with your own eyes the ancient church of Our Lady of Olive Tree and the Alberto Sampaio Museum located in it, Piazza Santiago that used to be a shelter for pilgrims, the monastery of Saint Clara, the magnificent palace of the Dukes of Bragança, and of course the chapel in which the first king was baptised and the castle that served as a last line of defence for the city.

We will also give you the opportunity to climb the sacred mountain of the Druids Peña, from where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the valley in which Guimaraes is located.
